Current Event- Ellen Whitehead

Kei Otake, a current Juilliard student, was born with Treacher Collins disease. This means that in the womb, his face wasn't structured correctly and he was born without cheekbones. Because of this, his speech is impaired as well. Otake states that because of his disabilities, he feels that he cannot express his feelings through his words, he prefers through his music. Otake plays his cello in the New York subway to spread his story and share his music. I think this story is important because it shows that no matter what your disability, you can still follow your dreams.

  1. This is a beautiful story that I think anyone no matter if they have disabilities or not can learn from. It shows so much courage and passion.
