Nia Edwards 4th Jogging Woman survives bear attack

Nia Edwards
4th period

A woman was jogging at an Air Force base in Alaska on Sunday May 18, 2014 when she was attacked by a brown bear sow defending its two cubs. The victim managed to walk a mile after she was mauled before someone found her and took her to the hospital. The bear had clawed the woman's arms, legs, neck, and torso before it left her alone. She is now in stable condition at Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage.

This is so scary! Bears are pretty big animals and for this woman to survive this attack that is incredible. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The bear thought she was going to harm her cubs and took defense immediately. Its really sad but it goes to show that people should be very careful when jogging out where wild animals live. I hope this woman isn't scarred too bad.

  2. Hopefully the jogger will be okay. You can't really put any blame on the bear though, because she was only defending her cubs.
