More Children Crossing U.S. and Mexico Border Alone- Ashley Barnes 2nd

The number of undocumented children crossing the border has increased substantially recently. Reasons for the growth could be because of the nicer weather, or because of the decreasing economy in Mexico. Children that have been crossing have been anywhere between the age range of 17 and 5 to 6 years old. A lot of these children are trying to become reunited with parents or relatives. There has been some debate over what to do with these children; so far many of them have been released to their relatives with a court date set. However, statistics have shown that nearly all of them fail to show up to their trial.

I think that it is incredibly sad that children as young as five or six are crossing the border by themselves. The fact that some of them are trying to cross so young to be with their parents who illegally crossed is unsettling; a serious problem that should rise debate. Of course their has to be laws and more regulations with illegal immigrants, however I hope these children are still being handled appropriately.
