"Deaf Woman Adopts Deaf Dog Who Knows Sign Language In Perfect Match" - Natalie H. - Class 2

A deaf dog learns sign language to communicate with her new owner. This article was featured on May 12, 2014 at 2:15pm on the Huffington Post, a site known for sharing good news.

Pit bull-mix Rosie was taken in to the Central Nebraska Humane Society and discovered to be deaf. However, she has already learned sign language from shelter volunteer Tracie Pfeifle, which proved useful when Cindy Koch was looking for a dog to relate to because of her own deafness. Birds of a feather....well, you get the idea. Anyway, it was a happily ever after for the two.

  1. Byron Otis- How wonderful. I love it when a dog becomes a better dog. Dogs and humans fit so well together, it seems, almost like two pieces of a puzzle that fit together, or those alien braids from the avatar movie.

  2. What a wonderful story. I agree with Byron, this is really just like those alien brains from that avatar movie or even like that one woman who fell in love with her own parasite from that one Dr. Who episode.

  3. That's so amazing! I've never heard of a dog being able to sign. I wonder if this is just an unusual case or if dogs are simply evolving to be better. I would love to know how exactly she taught her dog to sign when they don't have opposable thumbs.
