Podium on standby for Biden in first democratic presidential debate by Caroline North 9th period

Current Vice President, Joe Biden, has yet to declare whether or not he will enter the presidential election for 2016.  The first democratic presidential debate will occur this Tuesday, October 20, hosted by CNN, and the television network has re-written its participation rules to allow Biden to participate even if he hasn't yet declared his candidacy.  CNN has confirmed that while they do not expect Biden to show up, an empty podium will be on stage for the vice president among the other presidential candidates.

Vice President Biden appears uncertain of whether he will enter the race for 2016.  "[He] has also expressed in national interviews his satisfaction with the possibility that he may not make up his mind in time for the various deadlines."  In several states, Biden is ranked third from the top among democratic candidates behind Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, and he hasn't even confirmed his candidacy yet.  Biden's participation in tomorrow's debate would most likely also help increase the number of people who watch the debate.  Many people are loyal to Biden and are in favor of his ideas.
