Owners of recreational drones in the U.S. will be required by law to register them with authorities, as they are increasingly viewed as hazardous to aerial vehicles. They are also beginning to cause problems with privacy due to most drones having cameras on them.
I think this is a good idea due to the fact that many people aren't very cautious when using drones. If a drone were to get stuck in one of the turbines on a commercial passenger jet, the results would be catastrophic. There's also been a similar recent issue with people shining laser pointers at the cockpits of passenger jets. However, people should be able to get off with a warning before getting fined for flying their drones over areas that could potentially be dangerous. It would be like giving an early American a fine for something that had not been clearly stated in the first place, since it's difficult to find a list of areas where drones are banned.
