In Greene County, Tennessee, county commissioners were faced with the decision of whether or not to fly the Confederate flag above the local courthouse. Commissioners decided to vote to determine the outcome- twenty were against flying the rebel flag and one was for flying the flag. The one voter that wants the Confederate Flag to be flown stated: "It's just a part of history."
Many people have argued that the Confederate flag is patriotic, when it stands for a few states that didn't want to be a part of the U.S., so they decided to secede from it. (Which is not very patriotic.) The history of the Confederacy is a piece of, well, history. However, it has a darker past full of slavery and people who were against the U.S. Flying this flag only represents the darker past.
