"We Don't Know Where He Is" Sydney Bridgeforth

Summary:

The Cleveland man who allegedly posted a video of himself shooting an elderly man on Facebook could be "anywhere" - and authorities urged the public to call in tips of the man's whereabouts.

Steve Stephens, described as a 6 foot 1, 244 pound man with a bald head and full beard, allegedly approached 74 year old Robert Godwin, Sr. and shot him point blank and killed him.  While attacking Mr. Godwin, Stephens allegedly said that his girlfriend drove him to commit the crime.

Early on in the investigation, Stephens spoke with authorities on his cell phone, but authorities said they have not heard from him since, as he has escaped capture.

Analysis:

This article was written by Steven Helling for People.  The article was written in a one-sided disgust for the shooter; rightfully so.  I have never read any other pieces by this author.  However, because of the nature of the act, I agree with the tone of the current event.

History has played out time and time again where mentally unstable citizens have access to fire arms and the end result is never positive.  So many innocent people have lost their lives as a result.

My heart and prayers go out to the victims family.  So sad. 😔🙏🏾

  1. Facebook needs to reevaluate their policy on permitted material, and should have a way of screening their content before it even hits the internet. However, the larger issue is that a murderer is at large anywhere in the US.
