Summary: Louisiana is experiencing a lot of coastal damage caused by oil companies. The oil industry is major factor of the Louisiana economy and therefore the decision to sue for the damage was a difficult one. Although suing these companies might effect business negatively, they cannot avoid having to face the consequences of costing the state a loss of land. The money to repair has to come from somewhere and it is only fair it come from those at fault.
