Liza Kaye: Twitter makes plans to stop harrasment

Recently, people have been claiming twitter as the social media platform of violence and abuse. Lots of accusations have been made, inferring that twitter allows such harassment to take place. For example, Donald Trump tweets up to ten times everyday. While there are settings options to mute specific people of your choosing, these tweets are still allowed. Although Trump's tweets are far less harmful than other examples, people are still complaining. Now, twitter has made a statement that they are urgently putting out a solution to this problem. Several new features will be allowed for use in the coming time. For example, if someone replies to your tweet, you will have the ability to delete it.

This relates to history because it shows a democracy in a way. The people expressed their views and concerns, and now twitter (the government) is working on improving and compromising. This twitter concern is a great way to envision how the ideal government system should work, cause and effect.

  1. This is an interesting article. This is also a really great example of democracy. The people have stood up for something they want and are getting it. Never give up on something you truly believe in.

  2. I feel like this is not at all something new or, really, something that has an easy fix. I'm sure even Twitter itself has been dealing with this for quite some time now.

  3. I am glad that they are making progress such as this, because POC and the LGBTQIA+ community have been the center for attacks for so long in on Twitter

  4. I think its interesting that the news thinks this is a new development. Twitter harassment has been happening for years now, so I would be interested to see if they do make any changes, and how the twitter world takes to these changes.
