East Coast Prepares for Storm's Arrival- Natalie Newman

Hurricane Sandy is thought to bring life threatening flooding to New York City. In order to prepare for this monstrous attack, New York City is shutting down transit systems and evacuating certain areas including hospitals and homes. School's have been shut down and many more ample precautions have been set in motion. This hurricane is not only effecting New York City, but other states East of the Mississippi River as well. For example, Lower Manhatten's electrical and steam networks are even being shut down as a saftey precaution due to Hurricane Sandy.

Everyone seems to understand that in order to save equipment, and lives, things are necessarily being put on hold in order to prevent longer time periods without these exigent tools for every day lives; however this is putting people into chaos. Without ways of transportation people may be missing jobs and unfortunately things can not just be put on hold these days. Work must get done, and keep moving at a quick pace. I can not imagine living in an area with the possibility of a life threatening occasion to take place at any given moment. It is important for everyone to remain calm and do what is necessary for their safety, just as the presedent has said.
