Federal Court Upholds Bulk of Gun Control Laws Passed in Wake of Newtown by Savannah Boyack

On Monday, a federal appeals court upheld most of the gun control legislation they passed in Connecticut and New York after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012. The laws enacted included a prohibition of possession of a number of semiautomatic assault weapons and large-capacity magazines.

I am glad that the federal government is not wavering on this serious matter. No one really needs semiautomatic assault weapons in any situation except war. If you feel like you need a gun to protect your home and family, all you really need is a handgun or small shotgun. Why do some people feel the need to protest a law that says we shouldn't walk around with high-powered assault rifles? I think we all are a lot safer with these laws in place. I hope that they will eventually be put into action in the rest of the states as well.
