Rosanell Eaton, born on April 14, 1921, died on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 97 years of age. She was a major voting rights advocate for African Americans in North Carolina. President Obama honored her for her fight for voting rights as well as her lawsuit opposing a voting law in North Carolina. She graduated high school at the top of her class and was one of the first black voters in North Carolina after the war. She had experienced a lot of discrimination through her life, including living through the Jim Crow Laws but accomplished so much for her cause for equality in voting rights. Ms. Eaton will be forever remembered and commemorated for her life and work.

This article was published by The New York Times and written by Robert D. McFadden who won the  1996 Pulitzer Prize. The audience of this article are the people of the United States to inform and bring awareness to this country’s terrible, discriminatory past which we will hopefully learn from. Rosanell Eaton can be connected to Martin Luther King Jr. who was a civil rights activist who fought for equality for African Americas through non-violent protests and movements. This article was published today, December 9, 2018, so it is very recent information. Also, The New York Times is a very reliable and trusted source of news and information in America.
