After it was announced that Kevin Hart would be hosting the Oscars this year many people became outraged when old homophobic tweets were brought to the public's attention. Kevin Hart released a video where he addressed the controversy and told people that his tweets were something he had already addressed and he was tired of people constantly bringing up his past and not accepting that people can change and evolve. Nick Canon cane to his defence and pointed out how other comedians have tweeted similar things, yet people seem to have never brought it up or call them out for it.
In my opinion this day in age it is easy for me to just roll my eyes when ever someone says something about an outrage over someone's old tweets. I am a firm believer that people can and do change. I also believe that in this era we are so quick to call someone homophobic or racist because of their words when although sometimes they are those things, sometimes it is just plain ignorance. Sometimes people don't know that certain words are hurtful or that something may have some context that can be offensive, or maybe they just don't understand the other point of view. I think it is important that if someone does something that genuinely offends you then you should correct them and educate them before deciding to antagonize them immediately.
People should be held accountable for their actions no matter how long ago at the end of the day especially being a celebrity you are going to have to live with the mistake of that tweet for the rest of your life.
