"Nazi-themed" posters found on SUNY campus -Grecia Jimenez

Posters featuring "Nazi-themed" images were found around the campus of the State University of New York at Purchase on Sunday, according to university police. This issue was very concernibg to the campus due to 10% of their students being Jewish. A suspect, a student, has been arrested, Chief of Police Dayton Tucker said in a statement Tuesday. The Westchester County District Attorney's Office will be pursuing a charge of first-degree aggravated harassment, Tucker said"That this hateful act took place on the last night of Hanukkah when our Jewish community members were celebrating the survival of their religion, makes it even more reprehensible," he said. "Please know that these posters, and any message of anti-Semitism and intolerance, go against our core values of diversity, acceptance, and understanding. At Purchase, we are committed to ensuring that all members of the community are accepted and welcome, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, background, or identity."
It seems that hate runs through the veins of society these days, messages of hate aappear to surround us and wrap our lives so often that we have become numb to them. Regardlessmof race, religion, identity, and orientation, we should all stand up for eachother and defend our brothers and sisters whose voices have been silenced  for centuries. We must stand up to the hatred and White Supremacy.

  1. That's really scary but unfortunately unsurprising given the current administration. When our president struggles with condemning nazis, it's hardly a surprise we're having these issues. I agree. Especially in this climate, it's up to all of us particularly those in a place of privilege to defend victims of bigotry.

    1. I agree with you, we need to take actions against bigotry instead of giving it a national stage.

  2. I think that we need to stop supporting those who commit racist actions. I hope those who are responsible for the graffiti are caught and punished.

  3. It's crazy that still after close to a century after anti-semitism acts started that jewish communities are still dealing with this. - Emma Hancock

  4. I agree with Zander, if our own president doesn't care to deal with things like this, brushes them off like they aren't that big of a deal, how the hell do we expect things like this not to happen. Things like this can lead to much more dangerous acts and he needs to genuinely do something about it, -kloe rhoden
