How to fight travel fees this holiday season- Yesenia Ramirez Monroy

Many Airline companies raise their fees during the holidays because they know that it will benefit them a lot since many people plan to travel. Even though this is beneficial to them because the past year the top 10 airlines gained around $29.7 billion dollars mostly on fees however, many people don't want to be paying excess money or more than what they are already spending. Many people might not know this but sometimes airlines may overcharge you when you pay with card since people don't really check or sometimes because their are bank companies that charge you fees when using them. During this time of the year many people want to save money and the CEO of a print and design company in Pontiac, Michigan said, "They're easily avoidable if you have the right credit card", they were referring to the taxes that the airlines charge and how you can save money by checking the benefits you receive with your bank.

This article was written by Christopher Elliot on the 12/09/18. This article was written to inform citizens on how to save money when traveling and how some airlines may try to take advantage on people who are not well informed. When reading this article we can see how through time prices have been increasing and the advancements our country has made. This relates to U.S. history because back in the days the form of transport was railroads. One of them was the Transcontinental Railroad which went from California to New York  and the total cost to travel was $1000 when it was first built but then dropped to $150 this led to the expansion of business and travel.
