A record number of voters participated in the midterm elections this year. A whopping 118 million people, or 50.1% of eligible voters were estimated to have taken part by Professor Michael McDonald of University of Florida. 35 more million people voted this year than in 2014.
The voter turnout this year has been one of the largest in American history. In 1970, 47% of voters turned out and in 1996, it was 49%. The late 60's were, like today, a time of social reform and movement, which is the cause of the large turnout.
Hopefully in the future we will continue to see more eligible voters exercise their rights as American citizens and take part in fulfilling the dream of a nation governed by the people and for the people.

All of the emphasis on the importance of voting wasn't in vain! It makes me very happy to hear this; I hope more people feel compelled to vote as time goes on.
