In a series of computer simulations, done by scientists, green house gas levels were raised to match the conditions of the Great Dying, the largest mass extinction in Earths history. The simulation showed a dramatic decrease in the oceans oxygen levels once greenhouse gas levels were increased. In the simulation this caused many marine species to leave their natural habitat to find a more suitable place to live. Fossil record data confirmed a similar extinction pattern to have taken place during the Great Dying.
This information helps scientists today to understand the cause of previous mass extinction and will help them predict future mass extinction. According to experts the Earth is going through it’s sicth mass extinction right now as a direct result of climate change. This article was written to inform people about the Earths condition and hopefully inspire people to help out to save the planet.
