Same-sex marriage is already legal in California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington. In a CNN article it talks about how the Supreme Court refused to lift the ban of same-sex marriage from Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. Some are saying that its refusal to hear the cases from those five states also means that six more states could have to get rid of their bans on same-sex marriage, because they are covered by the same circuit appeals courts that initially struck down the prohibitions. This article is giving us information that we can use to spread what is going on with the topic of same-sex marriage. I believe that this helped me understand how long of a process it will be until we get to all 50 states not having a ban on same-sex marriage. This problem reminds me of when blacks were treated equally, and it took awhile to get on the same page. But we are one step closer to being all treated equally.

It's sad to realize this is still a problem. But yes, it reflects many rights laws previously, such as women's rights and Civil rights.
ReplyDeleteI am totally pro gay marriage. I think if two people are happy, no other person should have anything to do or say to change that. We don't see homosexuals trying to prohibit heterosexual marriage, this is absolutely no harm in this. This is against their individual rights.
