mexico swears in new leftist president - will goodell

mexico swore in new leftist leader andres manuel lopez obrador on saturday before a group of world leaders and new congress members. lopez-obrador won in a landslide victory on the july 1 presidential election and promises to fight against corruption and insisting that this has been mexico's most serious problem. "nothing harms mexico more than dishonest leaders" he pronounced on an earlier campaign speech. during his swearing in, he insisted again that he will not ride the presidential plane, live in the presidential house, and will only take 40% of the presidential salary. lopez-obrador also criticized the former president for introducing 'harmful' economic strategies and immediate public investment to rescue state oil and electricity. lopez-obrador also thanked vice president pence and trump for being very welcoming of him so far, as well as canadian president trudeau. this reminds me of president andrew jackson winning his election and promising new and exciting ideals that were not in place before. jackson and lopez are both more popular than their predecessor and also much more different than those before.

  1. It's reassuring that he won't be abusing his power as some previous Mexican presidents have done. I really hope he lives up to everyones expectations.
