On Sunday, from the Oval Office, Obama announced that America is prepared to face this increasing threat of terrorism on America. He said that their is still no evidence that the attack in San Bernardino was planned by a terrorist organization from overseas or a conspiracy group based in America. He also said it would be best to try and avoid a ground war, which is expensive and serves as a recruitment tool for terrorist groups. He also said that gun control should make it harder for people on no-fly lists to buy guns. This was the third time in Obama’s presidency that he had made an announcement in the Oval Office, which showed the seriousness of his speech.
I think it was a good decision for Obama to make this speech to America, especially considering all of the terrorism attacks and shootings that have taken place all over the world recently. This reminds my of the Monroe Doctrine, which was a way of showing foreign countries that the America was strong and that it should not be messed with.

ReplyDeleteIt's scary to think about terrorist attacks happening in our own homes, but it's also a reminder for me to be constantly grateful that I don't live in a country where these kinds of massacres happen every day.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tori, speeches like these make people nervous but it is good to be aware of things like terrorist attacks. -Mattie Whisler 9th period Flex
