Summary:

In recent years, a spree of mass shootings has sparked debates over the Second Amendment and gun control. Many argue that gun control needs to be more strict in order to prevent disgruntled people from ending the lives of many innocent with the ease of automatic rifles with large-capacity 

magazines. Yet opposition to this movement contend that owning a weapon is a constitutional right that is necessary for self-defense. The Supreme Court's decision on Monday to deny the hearing of a Second Amendment challenge to a ban on semiautomatic assault rifles in Chicago reveals that the court sides more towards stricter gun control. If the courts and state governments detest citizen ownership of guns, while do they not ban guns entirely?
