U.S.- Clean Air Hogs- Eleni P.1

World leaders are continuing in Paris to negotiate ways to protect the planet and reduce global warming. Some of the agreements involve cats on greenhouse gases but this article focuses on consumption, especially in India. As India continues to develop and its economy continues to grow, the use of fossil fuels has increased tremendously. However countries like India don't think it is fair for their growth and their consumption to be limited, when people in wealthy countries like the US consume so much more power, food, and other resources then then people in the poor countries. The US has consumed products and resources at a much greater rate for many years, so there is debate about which countries should bear most of the responsibility for making the changes needed to stop dangerous climate changes.

I find this to be very nerve racking. The pollution that we have been causing used to be a non problem with how we were alerted. Nobody official enough was treating this as a problem that needed to be solved. We used to have stronger ties with India, which was very important for security. Now the situation with climate change negotiations is straining that relationship. Even now our eco-awareness is still not being acted on fully enough.
