Victims of assault speak out against ex-Oklahoma City cop--Becca Brandt 4th

One of the victims sexually assaulted by former police officer, Daniel Holtzclaw, has recently spoken out about her terrifying experience. She explained how she did nothing wrong, but he still pulled her over. She thought he was going to shoot her, however he assured her he wouldn't. He did make her perform oral sodomy. The victim was traumatized, having a stroke and having to attend therapy. The victim eventually went to the police and media, eventually discovering that 12 other African-American woman had reported the same incident. The jury found Holtzclaw guilty of 18 of 36 charges, including first degree rape. In addition to accusing Holtzclaw of sexual assault, this victim also accused the city of Oklahoma City of negligence. In addition, another victim also spoke out against Holtzclaw. He pulled her over for no reason. She was later taken to a hospital and raped by Holtzclaw while handcuffed to the hospital bed. No nurses or doctors came to check on her, since they assumed she was fine since she was with a police officer. Holtzclaw is expected to have 263 years in prison, however formal sentencing is set for next month.

I honestly cannot believe that someone would do this, let alone a police officer. Taking advantage of the honor of owning a police badge and using it to assault women is probably one of the worst crimes there is. It is hard to trust anyone these days after hearing stories like this. I really hope the city of Oklahoma City as well as all other cities around the U.S. have learned their lesson about frequent background checks. More needs to be done in order for things like this to be prevented and stopped. If he became a cop just for all of this, what are the odds this will happen again?

  1. Thats the thing though, there are some officers who take advantage and in ways skew the real reason they have the badge on.
