Jessica Aguilar Ramos- Don't Collectively Punish Muslims
This article is one writer's opinion on what should most definitely not be a reaction to a shooting in early December that left 14 dead and 21 injured. The shooters were a husband and wife, Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik. While the perpetrators were Muslim, they do not represent the entirety of the Muslim community and as such this tragedy should not be used as an excuse to create more anti-Islamic sentiment in our already racist country. If people were to decide to punish every Muslim in the country for the actions of these two individuals, it would make about as much sense as banning paper because someone got a papercut once. This reminds me of the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks and what they have led up to now- a whole lot of Islamophobia, war, and just plain destruction.
