A teen was caught at the O'Hare airport and was thoroughly searched. He was found in possession of a drawing of an ISIS flag and other documents that confirmed that he was going to join the ISIS. The teen had left a letter telling his brother to not tell the authorities that he is going to join the ISIS.The charge he faces carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The ISIS is really smart about recruiting people. They are great at manipulating and bribing. Teens should watch out before they agree to do something, and the country should monitor how information is getting in and out. This is a very scary situation because the teen appears to be very devoted to what he wanted to do. I hope his family is doing well and that people can learn from this.

This is such a strange concept to me, that one would leave their own country to join a force that is murdering the inhabitants of one's own country. What is the motivation to do this? I really can't understand the draw to this kind of organization, but obviously the appeal is dangerous if there are already Americans leaving to join it. The stability of organizations and gangs, along with the feeling of family, especially for those who have grown up in situations without either of these things, has proven itself throughout time to be an attractive choice. Let's hope that no others will follow in the footsteps of this teenager.

Some people just join for the bloodlust. I know, it's depressing to think about.
