Deadly High School Football..? Td Simons 2pd

Throughout the past week three high school football players have died on the field. In a suburban New York town a varsity football player, Tom Cutinella, died from a head injury due to a collision with another player during last Wednesday night’s game. Sources say it was a typical football play but sadly just a “freak accident”. The community has come together to support his family through this hard time. Another accident, which was an unknown death, occurred while Demario Harris Jr. died after making a tackle in a football game on Sunday in Alabama. Also Isaiah Langston collapsed on the field during the pre-game warm up and died shortly after in North Carolina.

These events are all warnings that the game of football needs some revisions to their rules. This famous American sport has been played in this country for decades and is such a rich and deep part of our culture. To create a healthier and safer sport rules need to be altered to keep the players safe.

  2. Far too often, cases like these aren't highlighted because our culture wants to keep a positive shine on such popular sports. It's good to see these are being reported and brought to the public.
