"The Grinch stole Halloween"---Morgan Brown 5th

In Long Island either late Sunday night or early Monday morning, an abundance of pumpkins were stolen. There were about 600 pumpkins stolen at a value of $4,200. The pumpkins were stolen in Calverton, New York from Rottkamp's Farm. Detective Timothy Hubbard of Riverhead Police Department has stated that he believes this amount of stolen goods is too large for personal use. It has also been stated that he believes it is possible for the fugitive might be another farmer trying to sell the pumpkins at another stand. Overall the person has to be someone that wants and/or needs money.

The entire situation is funny in a slight way but is also truly sad. It is funny that someone actually stole about 600 pumpkins because that isn't something that would normally happen. Yet, it is sad that someone was truly that desperate in need of money. This can either be blamed on the person that stole the pumpkins or the economy. The thief because morally, they should know the difference between right and wrong. The economy because the economy is so unstable that it can possibly drive a person the point of survival for their jobs and family.

  1. This is so sad that so many-a pumpkin would be stolen away. I hope they can be replaced.

  2. I blame the thief. There are plenty of other ways to get money, but to steal pumpkins? Really? That is such a childish and stupid thing to do. I hope who ever did this not only gets caught, but also realizes how childish they were acting during the process of stealing the pumpkins.

  3. Stealing pumpkins and selling them at a higher profit? Surely, the thief is desperate. It is really pumpkins are being stolen and sold like this, especially around Halloween.

  4. It seems likely that the thief aims to sell these pumpkins. It must have taken a lot of work to steal 600 of them, so they had to have been pretty desperate.

  5. I don't think you can blame the economy. There are definitely better ways to make money and while it isn't a good idea there have to be more profitable things to steal. maybe this thief is doing it partially for fun. I can't think of a good reason.
