Summary:
On Monday at Nevada Middle School, a twelve year old student shot and killed a math teacher and severely wounded two other students with a semi-automatic handgun. Soon afterwards he shot himself as well. An eighth grader witness explains that he heard the kid yelling "Why you people making fun of me, why you laughing at me," before hearing about six gun shots. About 200 cops came to the school and searched for bombs. However, the police or others did not ever identify the twelve year old shooter. The school then shut down for the week to recover from the tragedies caused by the shooting.
Analysis:
It is so crazy to think that this kid was only twelve years old! In my opinion, it's sad that such a young kid would have the state of mind to do something so traumatizing on purpose. Also, the fact that a gun was so easily in his possession is quite disturbing. This, I'm sure, has brought about debate over gun control laws. Especially after there has recently been quite a few shootings across the United States.

This is so tragic. There is so much violence in the world today and the fact that a twelve year old could be pushed to such measures is a prime example of the negative effect violence in the media has had on society.

It's horrible to hear this. Maybe parents should start limiting and blocking tv shows and video games that show violence.
ReplyDeletei know that gun control laws are in question, but he stole it from his parents, who probably are stable enough to have one. i think the problem at hand is that the school didnt catch him with the gun before he walked into the building-- we need better school security.
