Whiskey Bandits! Francesca Bartos 2nd

10/21/2013
65 Barrels of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon have been stolen from a warehouse in Frankfort Kentucky. The well sought after beverage is in high demand. Small batches of the alcohol are released in the Autumn to retailers and restaurants. The Kentucky bourbon is very pricey, one saloon sells a two ounce shot of the 20 year old whiskey for $65 and the even rarer 23 year old goes for $75 for a two ounce shot. The police believe it was an inside job which was carried out by smuggling one or two cases at a time. The whiskey has been sold for as much as $1190.
I find it amusing how much of a fuss is caused by the thievery of this alcohol. I guess people just like their liquor, and the way the taste is described in the article you'd think they were drinking nectar of the gods.

  2. Byron Otis-Aww, Meg, you beat me to it! Anyway, I think it's amazing that whiskey can be worth so much. I'd bet that thief got his or her money's worth.
