Katey Guinn 5th Period "Georgia Tech 'Rapebait' E-mail Writer Apologizes" by AJ Willingham

In response to the letter form fraternity member from Phi Kappa Tau fraternity, Matthew, has turned himself in for witting the "Rapebait" letter. He apologizes for his egotistical behavior he portrayed inside the letter. He is the social chair of the fraternity and wanted to make sure that his guys were having as much fun as possible. The chapter of the fraternity  has been suspended and is being investigated  as well as Matt's spot as social chair until further notice. He says that that the e-mail was written as a joke and he never meant it to go as far as it did. His letter is below:

"Misogynistic behavior is everywhere online and unfortunately, my attempt to ridicule it in an immature and outrageous satire backfired terribly and in a manner I mistakenly underestimated. In retrospect, it was a nickname I should not have embraced but continuing to use the term was my fault. As a leader I should have put a stop to it in any reference. I know I cannot fix all the damage I have done, but I will strive to become a better man as I work through this episode in my life. I will conduct myself to more honorably reflect the ideals of Georgia Tech in the future.

  1. I think it's sick that a person would exploit such a sensitive topic for comedic purposes. His apology demonstrates some recognition, however, the fact that he waited until he was put under scrutiny to atone for his actions, clearly shows his initial ignorance on he matter.

  2. Very interesting...this goes to show you that people must suffer the consequences of wrong doings.
