Mikenzie Moon, "These are the 15 happiest countries in the world"

Summary: Norway is the happiest country in the world according to this year's World Happiness Report. The study which measures social factors alongside economic data, points to the limitations of financial factors in achieving happiness.  Here are the top ten countries from 10th to 1st: Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Netherlands, Finland, Switzerland, Iceland, Denmark, and Norway. The US's happiness has slipped over the past year.  Despite rising wages, overall happiness has fallen from 13th in the world to 14th.  The American Dream of wealth is supposed to make people happy, but the study shows this is not the case.  The US can and should raise happiness by addressing America's social crisis of rising inequality, corruption, isolation, and distrust rather than focusing on economic growth.

Analysis/Synthesis: I think America could be happier if they focused on what our Founding Fathers wrote about in the Constitution.  People would be happier if they cared more about each other.  In the Colonial times people were more dependent on each other for goods and services and I think they felt united as a Country.  We need more of that attitude today.

  1. It would be wonderful to take a page from these countries' books, but right now seems like an extremely turbulent time in America, most likely unable to change any time soon, unfortunately.
