Liam Taylor - Parents Accused of Killing Their Son with Special Needs

Summary: A New York couple was just arrested and charged with second degree murder of their 16-year-old adopted son, Jeffrey, who had special needs. Identified as Heather Franklin and Ernest Franklin II, the parents called cops when their house burnt down to flames, but the fire was just part of their plan to cover up the murder. Officers say some red flags were waved on the scene of the crime, and upon entering the house, detectives put two and two together and solved poor Jeffrey's murder case.

Analysis: This article was published on the 25th of March, today, but this incident happen the previous day, March 24, 2017. This was written by CNN, and it just makes me extremely upset. This boy was reliant on his parents, and he had a life ahead of him. Just because he is physically or mentally 'disabled' does not at all mean that he has no feelings, or that he "deserves to die." This poor boy died sadly, and this article just shows the flaws or the adoption and foster system, and how these children's lives are all in jeopardy because they looked like a happy family from the outside, but you never know when it comes to people.

Synthesis: This reminds me a lot like countries where being members of the LGBTQ+ community is illegal, and if you're caught, it can lead to the death penalty. This is so unfair. It's inhumane just to say you have a right to kill someone because they are who they are. Just like how these parents had no right to kill that sweet boy, no matter who he was, disabled or not. This world is a devastating place, and I think I lost a little more of my faith in us as humans after reading this.
