Parents voice frustration as they deal with fallout of Chicago teachers' strike

This article is about the recent strike by the teachers of the Chicago Public School system. The teachers on strike are part of the Chicago Teacher's Union, which has about 30,000 members. The article doesn't really discuss why the strike is happening, but it discusses the problems that it has caused. For the time being, 350,000 students in Chicago are out of school. This has caused a serious problem for families where both parents work, and they don't have a way to take care of their kids if they can't go to school. Parents are concerned about keeping their children off the streets, which can be a very dangerous environment  in some parts of the city. The bottom line is, its very important that these kids get back to school soon. The teachers need to work out their problems. Education is important, but sometimes the ability to raise someone in a good environment is what makes all the difference in their lives.

  1. Some of the kids may not have parents that, i dont want to say dont care about them but.arent there for for them. And it may not be the students fault it might be either the students' parents fault or it might be the teachers fault. Im not saying that all teachers are bad but there are some out there.

  2. i think they better give the teachers what they want, because their the ones making us. Not all, but most teachers that i've had have been so supportive for me. Some kids don't take advantage of what they have in front of them. Younger pre-schoolers are different they dont know enough yet but in middle school, high school its all up to them.

  3. I would understand more if these teachers weren't some of the highest paid teachers in the nation. Taxes are high enough as it is( especially in Chicago), and I'm sure a lot of the people aren't wanting them to even slightly increase due to teachers being unhappy with what they're paid.
