Boy with Down Syndrome is denied a first class flight

In this video it shows a family with a mentally challenged son that isn't allowed to fly in first class. Of course the family is outraged since their son is discriminated, but the airline tried to defend themselves by stating that the boy was "agitated and running around". So for the safety of the other first-class passengers, the airline placed the family on another flight and in coach.

I honestly think the airline is rude for doing this. The video showed the boy waiting around for the flight, he did not show disruptive behavior towards anyone near by. Since he wasn't bothering anyone around him, does the airline discriminate him because of his disability? I think they do, and it was really emphasized when the family was bumped down to coach and put all the way in the back of the plane to avoid "bothering" other people. If their son was instead a crying baby, I'm positive nothing would have been said to them about their "disruptive" child.

  1. Wow that was extremely rude and ridiculous of the airline. It's sad to see how fellow Americans are discriminative towards each other.

  2. This is sad, and dumb on the part of the airline. I'm sure any reasonable person on the plane would have been understanding enough to not be bothered if the kid was "disruptive." Just because he has down syndrome doesn't mean he can't be disciplined like a normal kid anyway. The airline made a real problem by trying to solve an imaginary one.

  3. I agree with Omar. that is total discrimination not only towards him but to ALL of the people with down syndrome!

  4. This is complete discrimination. Just because the child is disabled doesn't cancel out the fact that he is a human.
