Today, Elon Musk, along with the men and women at SpaceX, broke two records; the most satellites the U.S has launched in one mission and their 19th launch this year, one more than last year's 18 missions. The Falcon 9 rocket that launched today has served as a ride share for smaller companies and organizations from across the world who wished to have their ideas go beyond the confines of the atmosphere. After a grueling seven hours of deployment of the satellites including the satellite from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, all 64 satellites are safely orbiting the planet.
We are inherently competitive and as a result, we are constantly out-doing each other or we are breaking our personal best. Whatever drives Elon Musk, be it competitiveness or simply wanting to improve the world, he and the folks at SpaceX broke a record within the U.S. Being competitive is something that has played an important role in all of history, there is evolutionary competition, social competition, and one that is very current regarding the actions of our president involving other countries, competitiveness on the global scale. Sometimes the competitive sprit that is brought out in us proves to be beneficial as it did today with SpaceX and all the other organizations involved with the Falcon 9 launch, but in the past, competitiveness has also been proved to disastrous on many occasions.
