Shayne Grant: Comey argues against impeachment

The Former FBI Director James Comey has come out saying that he does not want an impeachment of President Trump. He claims that impeachment would "let Americans off the hook," as if they have committed a crime. He said that Americans should fix their problems by voting. Also, he explained that while he does not believe the president is medically unfit to serve, he does believe that he is morally unfit to serve. Comey cited instances of Trump's behavior as evidence.

The CNN article is simply a summary of an interview with James Comey leaving little room for bias from the author. However, it is important to note that Comey is very opinionated throughout the interview with the thought of his firing by the president. While Comey is right that the president should not be impeached for no reason, he is wrong to claim that is is so that the voters can pay for their mistakes. As harsh as Trump has been to Comey, he needs to understand tat you can't blame a country for this, This is similar in American History to when many felt guilt after the election of James Buchanan.

  2. It's interesting seeing how Comey has made himself a poor tool for either major political party as his attacks on Trump alienate him from the Republican base while his displays of interesting character along with questionable past decisions make him an unlikely hero for the Democrats
