Sam Romine - Officer Who Dragged Man from Plane Sues United Airlines

James Long, the officer who forcibly removed David Dao from a United Plane last April, is suing United Airlines, it's commissioner, and Chicago, saying that he "was not trained on how to use force." Long's violence removing Dao from the United plane caused a public uproar and the loss of Long's position as a security officer for United. Long is suing for back pay and pay for his retirement plan.

Although he didn't receive training on this kind of situation, he really didn't need to, because handling this incident in a civilized manner would have been common sense. A fact supporting his case, however, is the fact that United overbooked it's own flight and poorly executed the policy that gave United employees seats on full flights. My prediction is that he will not win the case because even if he wasn't trained for this specific event, he still received 5 months of training and could have used his brain.
