Clear Backpacks? Makaria Harris

The students who attend Parkland Highschool will only be able to use a clear backpack  provided to them. They will also be required to wear id badges at all times and  metal detectors will be installed soon. Many believe that the clear bags are a violation of privacy and not one of the key issues that should be grabbing the world's attention. Many of the students mocked this measure with tweets like
“My new backpack is almost as transparent as the NRA’s agenda. I feel sooo safe now.” and “Starting off the last quarter of senior year right, with a good ol' violation of privacy!”.

I definitely feel their points. In middle school we had to wear mesh or clear backpacks and got  iss for not having on our id badges. Which is extreme to me and isn’t gonna change much because if there is a will there is a way but I get it prevent it from happening again, too bad there has to be an again.

  1. That sucks for them, but I can understand the thought process behind it

  2. That's crazy about the clear backpacks, there are other sensitive items in a backpack besides illegal things.

  3. I personally think that clear backpacks and metal detectors will do nothing to help safety. No school shooter would put a gun in the front of their clear backpack, or take it through a metal detector.
