Adidas partnered with Parley for the Oceans in 2016, and sold 1 million pairs of shoes made out of recycled plastic bottles. Parley for the Oceans is a non-profit organization that works to protect wildlife and help prevent the pollution of the ocean. Each shoes takes 11 water bottles to make, that's 22 million water bottles that will never end up in the ocean or landfills.
The creative conservation techniques used by modern companies reminds me of the original environmentalist movement and the first Earth day, when the idea of conservation of the environment was popularized and environmental issues came into light. I'm just happy to find to finally hear some good news. The concept of using recycled materials is becoming more popular, especially in jewelry making, WOOHOO.
