"Disease X" and the WHO- Ellen Fritz

The World Health Organization is preparing for potential future disease outbreaks- including Disease X, a theoretical infectious disease. The WHO is completing simulations, and coming up with new methods and technology to prevent the spread of the next worldwide epidemic- An especially important task now that the world is getting more and more crowded, causing disease to be more easily spread. Innovations in pathological prevention, such as new methods of vaccinations, are furthering prevention of widespread epidemic.
I think the WHO's innovations are extremely important, especially now that disease is more contagious and easily transportable than ever. A growing population and transportation such as planes and cars allow viruses to be spread quickly. Sometimes I do wonder if theres a cap to how many people the Earth can hold, and if these innovations just push back an inevitable mass extinction. hm.

  1. Technology can be beneficial when you use it the right way. The idea of preventing diseases is crazy to me.

    1. It's hard to draw the line between when technology and modern medicine becomes helpful or harmful. For example, the widespread use of antibiotics when uneeded has caused a specific breed of extremely strong virus to breed- one that's immune to almost all antibiotics.
