The recent ‘development’ that was meant to help schools all over the country is apparently not doing all that much to help the education system. The Every Student Succeeds Act was recently put into action, restoring local control of how schools are run and how they operate. This was meant to allow for creative ideas and specific solutions to counter problems that local communities are facing in their own towns and cities, however it hasn’t really done what it set out to do. Some have went on record saying the ideas presented so far under ESSA have been uninspired and useless, the development of children’s education not making strides in success as they hoped it would when it was written.
This reminds me of some New Deal practices that were put into place. They all had the best of intentions, but when carried out it just didn’t add up to be worth the money and effort spent to reform the issues it was made to conquer. This also has roots in communism, which is a good looking idea on paper to be sure, however it’s practice falls a lot shorter than many oroginally thought it would. Hopefully school systems can get their thinking caps on and come up with some solutions to make the most out of this Federal Act. If they don’t the problems will only grow for children’s education in the United States.
