In Tulum, Mexico a family of four went on vacation over spring break. When they did not show up for their flight on March 21st, friends and family began to get nervous and could not get a hold of them. This place is a major attraction for families from all over the world looking to go on vacation and recently it has come out that there a serious drug problems and illegal smuggling that is getting out in the news. The family was from Iowa and there names were Kevin, Amy, Sterling, and Adrianna Sharp. The last that was heard from them was a Snapchat that Sterling sent of him at the beach. It is believed to have been carbon monoxide positioning due to the fact that it was in their condo and you can't smell that gas.
This is a tragic event that is very saddening and is making people fear for their safety while in different territory. In APUSH, we see a strong emphasis on news getting spread fast and on people always knowing what is going on in different countries, like in WWII.
