For Paige VanZant her career a as a UFC strawweight has come to an end. She had developed a eating disorder from weight cutting; a practice that allows athletes to cut down about ten pounds in under 5 days. The practice involves a diet in which the athlete drinks large portions of water and non salty foods. Paige says after seeing UFC fighter Uriah Hall push himself to the brink of death, from having a seizure and kidney failure, she had to stop.
Steven Ronda created this article. Before this article I had no knowledge of athletes practices of weight cutting for weight cut offs. This effects my understanding, since I have no knowledge on the subject of the article, I had to do my own research on the subject addressed in the article. This article has a negative influence on the reader and was written to inform people about the dangers of weight cutting and how it effected UFC fighter Paige VanZant. This article can relate to how women in the war put themselves in dangers and risks in order to (at the time) illegally fight in the war.
