Dan Lipinski is a Democratic Congressmen who advocates for widespread discrimination against the LGBTQIA community. Often times people overlook that their are in fact still bigoted Democrats in power who despite their parties general views are against more liberal things such as legal women's abortion, immigration, and marriage equality. Dan Lipinski is one of these people. However, new candidate for Lipinski's position, Marie Newman, is quickly gaining votes due to HRC's help in getting more votes.
This is important because too many times people assume that all republicans are bigoted jerks and all democrats are saints when that sort of stereotyping is harmful in a number of ways. There can be accepting and tolerant Republicans and hateful Democrats. This is also important because this means people are more willing to elect pro-women choice, LGBTQIA, and immigration candidates than before. Hopefully this is the start of a new era of acceptance regardless of sexuality, race, language, gender, or religion.
