A legally blind toddler in Wisconsin is now learning to see, with the help of a new machine. Tyler Geier was born with a mental disability that prevented his brain from being able to process the light coming in from his eyes, thus making him blind. Thanks to a donation from a local Lions Club, Tyler get's to receive treatment from a machine called LightAide, that uses LED lights that stimulate his brain and rewires it so that it gains the ability to process what he sees. In the few short weeks improvement has already been seen, as this child experiences the cutting edge of rehabilitation technology.
Philanthropy has been a common theme throughout the later years of American History, with tycoons like Andrew Carnegie pushing the Gospel of Wealth onto his fellows in the 1%. This precedent set has really been carried out throughout history, looking beyond yourself and giving back is a positive fad that has yet to fade. Whether or not be for reasons of self gratification or a genuine want to give back, this trend has benefited multitudes of people like Tyler to receive treatment that is beyond ones own reach at the time.
