Allegedly held captive for years, Turpin children now 'happy' and Skyping
By Eliott C. McLaughlin and Paul Vercammen, CNN
Summary: David and Louise Turpin had 13 children (they were the parents), between the ages of 2 and 29, that they were holding captive. When the children that were found showed signs of malnutrition and abuse. The parents said they were educating the kids in a way to get money from the government. But when the first escaped, a 17 year old, she didn't have more than a 1st grade education. Evidence of the children being chained to their beds was clear. The children that were minors are now safe in foster homes. The adults are also safe in another home.
Analysis: This reminds me of a concentration camp almost. So, for this to be a literal family?? Is appalling. If i were to relate this to anything in U.S. history, I would say Japanese internment... in the way the kids were miserably treated. I'm glad, however, that these parents are finally getting what they deserve, and that the 17 year old successfully escaped.
