DNA found on a doorbell helps catch a burglar | Mica Stout

On October 9, 2017, a robbery occurred leaving detectives no clues to who the burglar could be. Jason Braun, age 41 was arrested last week due to him being connected to the DNA found on the doorbell. The homeowner, at 81 years old, broke out his .22-caliber pistol and fired a couple of shots at the robber breaking through the window. There was still some confusion left behind, so a detective swabbed the doorbell, because Braun rang it without gloves on. After months of DNA testing, they came to the conclusion that it was in fact Jason Braun who tried to rob the house.
So many burglars get away with what they do, and it's good to see some getting consequences to their actions. The owner of the house did not need to use his gun to get the message, "get out of my house" through. It's like how robber barons got away with bad business practices, and they became rich without getting caught.

  1. I think it's really cool that a DNA test was able to help catch a robber. This would have never been imaginable in earlier years! We have become so technologicaly advanced, and I'm excited to see what will happen next.

  2. This is very important for criminal investigations in the future. I'm glad more people will be responsible for their actions.

  3. I think this technique is very neat however, with the advanced technology of today some doorbells have hidden cameras. Also, some burglars don't realize that during a burglary you should be covered from head to toe at all times. I see it as if you're gonna make a careless mistake like this they really you shouldn't be robbing people.
