Amandla Stenberg comes out as bisexual 

Amandla Stenberg, the 17-year old actress who starred in the 'Hunger Games' as Rue, came out as bisexual Thursday, January 7th. Amandla revealed her sexuality through a snapchat video, sponsored by Teen Vogue. The actress is on the cover model for the February issue of Teen Vogue and is also apart of a version of their website entitled, "How Our February Cover Star, Amandla Stenberg, Learned to Love Her Blackness."

Messages of female empowerment, especially for black females, is extremely relevant to our society. I commend the actress, who is my age, for being able to courageously come out as bisexual, not just for the benefit of herself, but also for the young females looking up to her. Society has a history of bullying and discriminating others because of their sexual preference or race. Acts courage like this s helps society look forward to a brighter future. I sincerely hope we are past the times of races having to fight for their rights or for same sex couples having to not marry. Everyone deserves to be who they are, whoever they may be.
