African American Store Owner Receives KKK Robe Amaya Avila pd 8

I have previously written about a KKK story in the past and in the present it is important for all to recognize hate crimes such as these happening all over the world. In Redmond, Washington on Thursday night a white citizen walks in a consignment store in downtown, owned by Leona Coakley- Spring, an African American store owner. The man drops off a bag of dresses and out slips, what appears to be an authentic KKK robe and mask. Coakley-Spring is shocked and horrified from such a hateful action. Investigators are on the look out for the young man who caused pain and fear on a successful business owner.
I think this is so absolutely ridiculous, one person cannot feel safe in their own town, because of difference skin colors. I think it is important to learn about history, but history is not meant to be repeated. With so many racial injustices happening all over the world, reports like these make me sick. The KKK had such a major power over African Americans and represent a time of war and racism that is still unfortunately relevant today in America.

  1. This is really upsetting. I find it amazing how people are so quick to say "slavery is over, so get over it" yet there are still so many racial injustices and hate crimes taking place like this one.
